Staying Occupied: Cosmetics Fun

Those cute toes in the picture belong to my eight-year-old. She chose a colour gradient to drive me mad. Why use one colour when I can get mummy to open five different bottles?!?

I’ve noticed on Facebook and Instagram that several friends have allowed their children to be cosmetically creative during this time. I’ve seen:

  • Rocking green hair;
  • Pink hair streaks to match Easter crafts fun;
  • Makeup glamour … without adult assistance;
  • And plenty of dress-up.

Why not play? Maybe work doesn’t allow you to have violet hair streaks. Why not play with a washout colour? You know your child loves your makeup drawer. Why not let them play? Makeup has an expiry date and you’re most likely not wearing it at the moment.

Just grab the hair colour while you can; according to CNN, this is the next shortage.

Have fun playing with your look. And remember … don’t cut your own hair!

Please share how you are staying occupied and/or how you are rocking a different look. You can respond to this post or reach out through Social Media.

There are now three summary posts with helpful links: Staying Occupied posts, Helpful Links for Families, and Fitness links to keep you healthy.

Note: This series was created due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the requirement to practice social distancing and stay home as much as possible. I hope that despite all the closures and the crazy grocery store lines, you can still find opportunities to stay calm, enjoy the extra time with your loved ones, organize the areas that need to be addressed, and find something (book, movie, craft) to bring you enthusiasm. Choose to be as balanced as possible and stay healthy.
