This is a last minute Halloween PROPS! to inspire you before this evening’s festivities. In Toronto, we hope the rain will hold off until we are cozy in our living rooms after some trick or treating.
The picture above is from one of the Halloween themed snacks done by my daughter’s school. Cute Clementine Pumpkins!
SPROUTING COMMUNITY:
Teal Pumpkin Project | Food Allergy Canada
This is an initiative to help children with allergies (and their parents) safely navigate their neighbourhood on Halloween night. If a household is giving out non-food items, they can place a Teal Pumpkin on their doorstep. This lets families know that their child can safely participate with a trick or treat without fear of nut filled candy. My family has been giving out stickers for years instead of candy and my friend has been handing out playdoh. I found that the children were even more excited over these non-candy treats.
SPROUTING CREATIVITY:
DIY Moonlit Mummy Lanterns | Design Mom
Looking for a last minute craft or decoration before the children arrive? This looks to be super easy and I would guess most people have the supplies hanging around the house. There is usually an empty glass jar in the recycle bin, masking tape hanging out in the junk drawer and googly eyes from a preschool craft. Don’t have these items? Get creative with what you have got!
BALANCED RECIPES:
Spooky Spider Cookies | The Kitchn
If you are looking for a last minute and easy to prepare party dish, I think you have found it with these cookies. This recipe is already nut-free but could easily be altered to make it gluten-free or vegan.
GIGGLING TO BALANCE:
Edgar the Spider. A Halloween Story | The Art of Doing Stuff
Just a fun little story about decorating, pyjama days, scary basements, and spider named Edgar.

Just finished putting together our teal pumpkin! We were in a rush so used teal-coloured glitter tape to cover a small pumpkin. Looking forward to some quality trick and treating!
